DISTANCE LEARNING FAQs
Where can my student find the class schedule?
Each student can access their schedule using Clever, our single-sign-on platform. If your student is logging on with an iPad (grades K-3), click here for instructions. If your student is logging on with a Chromebook, click here for instructions. All login information will be provided at supply pick up.
How will my student join Zoom classes?
Links to Zoom classes will be embedded into the schedules on Clever. To join a Zoom class, students should log into Clever, click their assigned schedule, then click on the name of the appropriate class. This will automatically log them into their Zoom class.
How will attendance be recorded?
Students are expected to attend all assigned Zoom classes daily (students must attend with their assigned color cohort, red or gold). Teachers will monitor student attendance and mark students present or absent at the end of each day. Parents should notify the school office or fill out the attendance form on the school website if their student will be absent from any scheduled Zoom classes.
How do I know which cohort my student is in?
If you are not sure whether your child is in the red group or gold group, please check with your student’s homeroom teacher.
How will my student complete and turn in assignments?
For grades K-3, all class assignments and materials can be found on Seesaw (access by logging into Clever and clicking on the Seesaw app). Click here for an overview of Seesaw for parents.
For grades 4-8, all class assignments and materials can be found on Google Classroom (access by going to the Google Classroom website and logging in with school Google credentials.)
How can parents monitor students’ work in Seesaw and Google Classroom?
Within the first week or two of school, parents should receive email invites for either Seesaw or Google Classroom. These will contain instructions for signing up to receive updates from these learning platforms about your student’s progress.
What other online tools will my student use regularly?
In addition to Seesaw or Google Classroom, Freckle will be used as a supplemental learning resource. Teachers will introduce other online tools as appropriate throughout the year.
What is Freckle?
Freckle is an online program that allows students to practice reading and math skills at their own level. It also allows teachers to track student progress and assess their mastery of standards and skills. On Freckle, students may practice independently or complete assignments from their teachers. Students can access Freckle by logging into the Clever portal and clicking on the Freckle link.
How will students learn to use devices and online tools?
During the first week of school, teachers will train students on the different tools that they will be using in class.
How can parents and students get help with school technology resources?
If you need tech support for any CTK school devices or online programs, please submit a ticket to our online help desk. Please be sure to include the name of your student and a detailed description of your question or tech issue.
